Letter to Parents

Dear Parents,

I hope this finds you all safe and well. With the announcement over the weekend from An Taoiseach, Leo Varadkar, we now have some guidance as to how our country plans to move forward over the coming few months. This has provided us with come clarity regarding our return to school, confirming now that we will not return until September. This is extremely disappointing for everybody but for the safety of everyone in all our schools and school communities, it is necessary.

We wish to acknowledge the difficulties that each family faces during these times and we would like to thank you for assisting your child(ren) with the activities and school work suggested over the last number of weeks. As stated in all our communication with you to date, your family must find the right balance for you with regard to the work suggested and we hope that we as a staff are assisting you in striking that balance. I would like to express my gratitude to you, the parents, for the great work you are doing to support your child and I would also like to thank our dedicated school staff who are trying to find ways of helping the children learn remotely. I would like to reassure you that in the coming year, our priority will be to ensure that topics covered during this time will be revised and consolidated, your child will not miss out on any important curriculum content. I would also like to express my gratitude to the children who have been exceptional in these circumstances, I am sure you are as proud of them as are we.

I understand that the greatest disappointment now is for 6th class. This is not the end to primary school that they had envisioned.  We have no guidance yet as to how or when they will be able to mark this occasion but we will put a plan in place to celebrate their time in Scoil Mhaoilíosa appropriately in whatever way we can.

When we return to school in September, it may very well be a little different to how we left but we will navigate through this together with the needs of all of the children to the fore. As always, should you need anything, the school email and teacher’s emails are available for you to make contact.

Le gach dea-ghuí,

Claire Falvey.
